The 'Jura Guy Way'
All our Refurbished Machines For Sale have been freshly refurbished and we repair customer machines using the following process.
The process of refurbishment takes about 3-5 hours or more and includes replacement of all maintenance items (brew group, all o-rings, and premium stainless grinder burr replacement), descaling, cleaning, and thorough testing of the machine.
Before returning your machine, we vacuum out the grounds and drain your machine if it is bound for a frozen climate. Please contact us with your model number for a refurbishment quote.
This service currently ranges from $400-$600 depending on the model number and relative complexity of your machine. If your machine requires work beyond the scope of work described above, those repairs are an additional expense. Common additional repairs include pumps, fuses, sensors which generally cost much less than the cost of refurbishment.
We strive to be as transparent as possible with our pricing and we always ask for your approval before proceeding with any work on your machine. There is no inspection or diagnosis fee. We bill for work performed only.
WHAT WE DO THAT OUR COMPETITION WON'T!!!
Rebuilding the brew group and replacing the seals are one half of the refurbishment process. That's where our competitors stop! They clean the grinder and make a cup or two of coffee.
Restoration complete! WRONG!!! Why pay to have your machine refurbished halfway? Grinder burrs are noticeably dull by 3500 cups, leading to weak taste and poor pressure during the brew cycle.
Here at the The Jura Guy we spend a lot of extra time not only installing premium stainless grinder burrs, but we go through the painstaking process of tuning each set to the machine.
Our trained technicians/baristas bench test each machine to maximize the taste, pressure, and extraction which leads to a superlative cup of coffee. We make approximately 10-20 cups of coffee during tuning in order to arrive at the single best setting for your machine.
TASTE THE DIFFERENCE at The Jura Guy!!!
"Why choose refurbishment over simply repairing what's wrong?"
Several reasons:
1. Half-measures usually result in repeat trips to the shop.
2. During the brewing cycle, the entire system is pressurized, therefore, it's a good idea to replace ALL seals throughout the machine when you have a leak.
3. Factory steel grinder burrs are noticeably dull by 3500 cups. We replace them with premium 410 stainless burrs which last longer and have a superior grinding profile resulting in rich coffee and thick crema.
If your Jura is leaking, don't cause further damage to your machine. It is time to renew the life of your machine for another 5000 cups. "Full refurbishment" includes a new brew group, new grinder burrs, pressure valve(s), grinder adjustment, new o-rings throughout the machine, descale cycle, and thorough testing and tuning. This maintenance procedure is needed approximately every 5,000 cups. We only very rarely discover a Jura/Capresso machine which cannot be refurbished. With proper care and maintenance, a Jura can last 20-25 years. That's why we have elected to only work on Jura: we believe in the quality and durability of these wonderful machines.
Another critical element of refurbishment is cleaning. We vacuum up loose grounds everywhere from inside the machine, we hand wash the body panels and anything that can be removed, and we completely disassemble and clean the brew group with all new seals. We disassemble and clean the spout of every machine and we clean the area around the brew group. See the brew group of an excessively dirty Jura machine before and after it has been cleaned. Most machines are not this dirty, but after refurbishment they are spotless.
